Archer & Archer has a wealth of experience in dealing with all aspects of family
law, with both Karen Carpenter and Rachel Lamb having attained membership of The
Law Society's Family Law Accreditation Scheme.
We deal with all areas of family law, including issues arising from cohabitation and
civil partnership breakdown. We offer our clients pragmatic and sensitive advice
at what we realise can be a difficult time, both practically and emotionally.
Public Funding
We are authorised by the Legal Services Commission to carry out publicly-funded
work (formerly known as legal aid) in the field of family law, which may be available
to you, subject to means-testing.
We offer a free initial 30 minute consultation to discuss your needs and, if necessary,
to assess whether you are eligible for public funding.
We advise on:
- Divorce - and financial matters ancillary to those proceedings.
- Children - issues concerning residence and contact.
- Care proceedings - advising parents or grandparents if proceedings are brought by
the local authority for children to be removed from the family home and into care.
- Separation - advice for those not ready to dissolve their marriage but who wish
to formalise arrangements in the interim period.
- Pre-nuptial agreements - although these are not yet binding on any subsequent Court
decision, these can be useful to define each party's financial situation pre-marriage
and can influence the Court's subsequent decision.
- Dissolution of Civil Partnerships.
- Domestic violence - injunctions and other applications to Court to protect the victim
and any children of the family.
- Change-of-name Deeds for both adults and children.
Collaborative Law
We are also able to facilitate agreement with regard to family finances through
collaborative law where negotiations are conducted in a conciliatory and relaxed
manner so that often settlements can be brought about in a cost-effective and amicable
way.
